The Best Time to Purchase Wine Grapes

Grapes for winemaking are typically available during harvest season, which can vary depending on your region and the variety you’re looking for. Harvest times can range from late summer to early fall. Plan ahead, as grapes sell quickly during peak season, especially high-quality ones!

Determining Quantity

A general rule of thumb is that it takes approximately 10-12 pounds of grapes to make a gallon of wine. Depending on the size of your batch, calculate how many pounds you’ll need. Always buy a bit extra to account for waste or any unexpected issues during processing.
